Getting Around

Everything you need to know

Copenhagen and the rest of Zealand’s public transport system is extensive and safe. The many stops and stations make it the easiest and most convenient way to get around. Use it to visit the many sights and get around like a local.

Plan your journey

In Copenhagen and the rest of Zealand, you can travel by bus, train, metro and even habour bus with the same ticket.

There are plenty of transport options

Travel by all modes of public transport with the same ticket. In the city center, buses, trains, and the metro are in service around the clock, and a stop or station is always within walking distance.

Metro

Copenhagen currently has four metro lines, named M1 through M4. The electric-powered fleet of pale grey trains travels to conveniently placed stops throughout the city. Their farthest destination is Copenhagen Airport - which you can reach with the M2 line.

The metro trains are spacious and fitted with comfortable, hygienic seating and more than enough hand-railing for stability.

Most Copenhagen metro stations are located underground, with a few exceptions in Amager. All stations are accessible by either elevator or stairs. You can spot a metro station on the street by looking for signage sporting the metro’s ‘M’ logo.
